REAL WEDDING: Lake Minnewanka Winter Wedding

The Location: Lake Minnewanka, Upper Bankhead & Surprise Corner

A Snippet About the Day: We had talked about a few options for Lynzy & Jon’s big day but they had decided on a Lake Minnewanka winter wedding when they got married in early November in Banff. They had taken a look around in town the day before the ceremony & decided on the Lake… then it snowed… so it was a little tricky having everyone standing around on the rocks with the snow. It was slippery & there was little space (especially with two videographers camera’s set up, so not a lot of room to move around). The walk to the ceremony saw Lynzy’s Dad almost face plant in the snow (i’m not gonna share that photo though!). Following the Lake Minnewnka winter wedding ceremony I really wanted to get out to Upper Bankhead to shoot, it’s a beautiful spot with now but the road there gets closed a little later in the winter, so I was super excited to get to shoot there with snow! Things ran a bit late & we got there after the sun had dropped behind the mountain. It was a bit chilly & the light was crazy blue, but I love the photos there! I hope I’ll be lucky enough to shoot there again with just as much snow but with the sunny backlight I was dreaming of. Once we finished up there, we headed off to Surprise Corner to get the Fairmont Banff Springs in the background since that’s where Lynzy & Jon were staying for their Lake Minnewanka winter wedding in Banff.
