REAL ELOPEMENT | Lake Louise & Bow Valley Parkway Wedding

The Couple: Alanie & Brandon

The Season: Winter in all it’s glory! Early January to be a little more exact

The Location: Lake Louise & Bow Valley Parkway in Banff National Park

A Snippet About the Day: When you envision a winter wonderland wedding, Lake Louise is the place to do it! Alanie & Brandon eloped from much warmer temperatures to the Great White North for this most beautiful day. It wasn’t a crazy busy day on the Lake so we were lucky to not have too many people running around in the background. One of the things I like most about winter in Lake Louise is that you can do a ceremony on the lake instead of in the meadow. Following the ceremony we worked our way around the Lake for portraits before heading down into the village where we stopped for photos on a little wooden bridge over the river. I was up to my waist in snow for some of those photos just so I could get the right angle! Then we decided to drive the Bow Valley Parkway looking for some different views. I love when we just hit the road & drive, stopping when a spot looks interesting. It’s great to be a bit spontaneous! The snow was high on the Bow Valley Parkway & I had a vision in mind for a photos so I had Alanie & Brandon climb the snowbank and i had to pull a canvas board from the car for them to stand on so they wouldn’t sink through the snow because it wasn’t packed tight. Then they sunk up to their waists in snow when I wanted them to go into the trees… so I had them climb back out again because I’m not that mean to leave them there! We ended their portraits on the Bow Valley Parkway chasing a beautiful sunset! I had to use the headlights from my car to light them because there wasn’t enough time to drag out all of my usual lighting for twilight but it turned out beautifully, if I do say so myself!
