Rachel, Matt & their close friends and family headed north for this Lake Louise destination wedding in October at that magical time of year where autumn starts to turn into winter. This is probably my favourite time of year to be in Lake Louise because the light is gorgeous, the lake looks amazing and the snow is just starting to fall so there’s lots of pretty contrast in the photos. That might be a dorky reason, but it’s all about the photos for me! I met with the girls in a suite at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise while they were getting ready. Enough can’t be said about how an uncluttered room full of pretty light and just awesome people really makes all the difference for getting ready photos! Once the girls were ready, off to the Victoria Ballroom we went for their wedding ceremony. The plan had been for an outdoor ceremony but with the recent snow it wasn’t safe to be out on the terrace with the chunks of snow sliding off the roof. No reason to be sad though, the Victoria Ballroom is pretty amazing itself! It was a speedy ceremony and we found ourselves outside taking in the view of Lake Louise for family photos and then portraits of the newlyweds with their wedding party. Taking photos at Lake Louise is always crazy with the masses of tourists, but it was extra special this day. I swear there were 50 people lined up around me while I was photographing the wedding party. If i remember correctly, someone tried to push me out of the way to get their own photo of the group! All in a day’s work at Lake Louise….  Luckily this was a pretty easygoing group and they just rolled with it!
