I was asked why I don’t show same-sex couples on my instagram or on my website and it’s not because I’m not willing or I don’t want to, I just haven’t had the option come up much in the past so I was excited for this same-sex engagement session in Banff. I struggle with how to advertise that I am welcoming of all types of couples and relationships and didn’t want to feel gimmicky in specifically wording for same-sex/gay/lgbtq couples. So in my fear of singling out gay couples, I ended up not photographing any. So I was super excited when these ladies booked me to photograph their wedding. Not long after doing this same sex engagement session, these ladies (I just don’t want to list them by name to preserve privacy) parted ways and called off the wedding. I just wasn’t feeling right about sharing their engagement session but after being told it was ok by them to share to help promote my willingness to photograph gay couples, so here we are! I really enjoyed this shoot, not just because it was a same sex engagement session, but simply because it was a really fun session to shoot in Banff with a really great couple. Here’s some of my favourite photos from this Banff same sex engagement, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I look forward to photographing more gay and LGBTQ couples!
