I met up with Monikah and Zac at the Natural Bridge in Yoho National Park near Emerald Lake Lodge for their mountain couples session at the end of May. I had photographed Katie & Mike’s intimate wedding earlier in the day so it worked out well for them to meet me in Yoho. The snow had just recently melted, we had warm temperatures and the most beautiful evening light at the Natural Bridge. These two are super sweet together even though they might think that they were awkward in photos but that was so not the case! I hear that all the time! The best part about shooting in the evening (besides the amazing light, of course!) is that the crowds are nowhere near as busy as they are during the day so we pretty much got to have the Natural Bridge all to ourselves. We spent most of the time on the river with the rocky backdrop but also tucked into the trees for a woodsy feel for their mountain couples session.

We had also planned to take a trip to Moraine Lake because it had just opened the week earlier for the season, so we finished up at the Natural Bridge and took a drive back into Banff National Park to continue their mountain couples session. While I was hoping to find Moraine Lake still partially covered in ice, it had melted, but there was still a little bit of snow on the mountains and we were treated to the most amazing reflection on the still lake surface. We started at shore level playing around on the rocks since the water was low (and that gives so many more options for locations to shoot on the Lake). Then after an outfit change we hiked up The Rockpile to take in the amazing views from above. Moraine Lake is pretty spectacular no matter where you are but the water and the mountain views can’t be beat from on top of the Rockpile.

I had such a great time photographing Monikah and Zac! It’s always fun to photograph other photographers, especially for a mountain couples session. Monikah and Zac own a video and photography company in Edmonton and I have worked with them in the past and they are pretty amazing!
