Sarah & Devin traveled from Texas with a just a few close family members for their Mountain heli wedding. We started the day with an outdoor ceremony at the Lake Louise Meadow followed by a short meal with family before I whisked them away for their couples portraits. We took photos around Lake Louise and Sara shared her wedding gift with Devin sitting on the rocks. I’m not going to tell you what was in that album, but Devin heartily approved! after we finished photos at Lake Louise we headed up Highway 93 with a short stop at Bow Lake to show off the fabulous vintage car they had for the day before making a brief stop at Peyto Lake. With the help of some enthusiastic tourists, we managed to make some great flying veil photos! We didn’t have long so we hit the road towards the Columbia Icefields. Sara & Devin added a helicopter tour to their wedding day and up until this point I had been saying no to them for years… I hate to admit it, but helicopters terrify me. It worked out that they planned the mountain heli wedding portion after we initially booked the first part of the day so I couldn’t say no! It all worked out though… I got over my fear and I think I’m willing to do one or more mountain helicopter weddings a year now. We went to Rockies Heli in Cline River for the tour. We flew over the Columbia Icefields and stopped in a gorgeous remote valley where we wrapped the night of couples portraits. It was amazing to be in such a beautiful place and not have a million people wandering around. Once we lost the light we got back in the helicopter for the ride out of the mountains. This was probably the scariest pat because a rain storm had blown in… was a little terrifying being up in that! Here are some of my favourite photos from Sara & Devin’s mountain heli wedding!
