When Alastair first contacted me we had a bit of a different plan but ended up with a Lake Louise secret proposal. Initially we were planning for Moraine Lake but it’s been such a pain in the ass trying to get in there with the road closures that we had to switch things up a little and ended up with a Lake Louise secret proposal instead. Secret proposals are a bit stressful all around because there are so many factors and things that can go wrong. Like making sure the people are in the right spot when they’ve likely not been to the location before (I drew Alastair a map to get to this particular spot at Lake Louise and gave him a few pictures so he wouldn’t miss it). Making sure random tourists don’t go stand beside them for their own photos. Making sure to have a signal that isn’t obvious so I’d know they are ready. It’s also hard trying to look inconspicuous loitering around a spot wearing a couple cameras… but luckily (and unluckily some days depending on frustration levels) there are a lot of people hanging around with cameras so you you really don’t stand out while you’re waiting for the action to happen. Alastair had great success with his Lake Louise surprise proposal to Isi and after they had a few moments to soak in what happened, we wandered Lake Louise for an engagement session. I love witnessing and preserving these amazing moments from secret proposals. It’s just really amazing to watch and feel the joy along with them. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t cry while photographing proposals. Here are some of my favourite photos from Alastair & Isi’s Lake Louise secret proposal from this past summer!
