It’s my favourite when two people who love each other dearly decide to run off to the mountains together to get married – nothing truly beats this Lake Louise & Moraine Lake elopement! Jenny & Bill’s wedding day kicked off at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise & I met them in the meadow for their intimate wedding ceremony with Patrick Smiley (Banff/Canmore/Lake Louise wedding Commissioner) (He’s the best!!). It was a crisp autumn day and wasn’t super warm so I think that helped to keep some of the usual people away. After their brief ceremony, we did photos around the Lake and had the best bright, overcast skies that just makes the water in Lake Louise look amazing, any time of day! We decided we’d venture of to Moraine Lake, cause why not have two epic locations in the mountains for your photos if you could? Well, it just goes to show how unpredictable the weather can be in the mountains… their Moraine lake elopement photos looked like it was winter! A flash blizzard came out of nowhere and the parking lot quickly emptied out which means we got to do snowy photos with the Rock pile i the background with no people on it! Amazing! Although, it really was frigidly cold, so we hopped in the car and went down to the River by the Post Hotel for another round of portraits and these two traipsed through the river to get a pretty rocky background. We were getting ready to wrap things up and I asked if they had any energy left to try Moraine Lake one more time… and it totally paid off! It was relatively empty but we could see that amazing water and the mountains once again, so that’s where we ended their Lake Louise & Moraine Lake elopement photos… just perfect! Here’s some of my favourite shots from Jenny & Bill’s Lake Louise & Moraine Lake elopement!
If you’re thinking about getting married at Moraine Lake, consider staying at Moraine Lake Lodge the night before & after your wedding day. It makes getting access to the Lake so much easier! For the past few years, access to the road to the Lake has been monitored & severely restricted from 6:30 am – 6:30 pm (that does vary a little). When you are a registered guest at Moraine Lake Lodge, you are guaranteed access. Another perk is you also get canoe rentals included which makes for pretty awesome photos & you don’t have to pay an extra $100+ for it!! There’s lots of tips & tricks to help make getting married in the Canadian Rockies easier. I’d love to be your local wedding guide & I’d love to photograph your wedding at Moraine Lake or anywhere else you choose!
