REAL WEDDING: Epic Blue Ice Winter Wedding
The Couple: Erika & John
The Season: Early November
The Location: On a freshly frozen Lake Louise with epic blue ice!
A Snippet About the Day: There is only a small window of time in any year where you have the chance to see the epic blue ice on Lake Louise. You need perfect conditions for the ice to freeze & to have the good luck for it to not snow at the same time. Then to be lucky enough to have a wedding at Lake Louise on the very same day to get the epic blue ice in photos… I can’t even begin to calculate what the odds would be. All I know is luck was on my side for Erika & John’s winter wedding at Lake Louise in early November of last year! We were set to have the ceremony in the meadow but with a little pleading on my end, they were game to go the ceremony shoreside with that epic blue ice behind them! Yay for elopements with only 4 guests to be able to wing the plan on the wedding day to get the best location ever! I first met up with John for getting ready photos then went to see Erika as she got dressed for the day. I got to see Lisa from Mountain Bride during this part of the day, always nice to catch up since she was their wedding planner. Once everyone was ready, we headed off to the new ceremony site for a lovely ceremony full of tears (the best kind!). After the ceremony we wandered around the ice, these two were adventurous & went out on it, so happy for that!! After having them freeze for a few hours we parted as ways as the headed back to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise for dinner & I drove home still giddy from getting to shoot with that epic blue ice on the freshly frozen Lake Louise & being lucky enough to be there before the snow covered it over. This is what winter mountain wedding dreams are made of!
A Review from Erika & John: No words can express how happy John and I were to have Beth with us on our big day. By the time we met in person, I felt like we’d known her forever. She is not only an extremely talented photographer, but just a genuine soul (and funny as heck!). We couldn’t stop laughing, and even on a chilly afternoon in November at Lake Louise, we were loving every second! She was a major part of a day we’ll never forget. And if that’s not enough, she carries SNACKS you guys! We love Beth and ENV Photography, it was an honour.
