Emerald Lake is an amazing place any time of year, but I feel like it’s even more magical covered in snow so it was just perfect for Garth & Vanessa’s Emerald lake Lodge winter elopement. Even though you can’t see the stunning green water, the blanket of snow that covers th area is just beautiful. Garth & Vanessa had a true elopement, just the two of them running off to a beautiful place to get married. They had their ceremony inside Cilantro on the Lake and then we ventured out into the cold for their portraits. With the lake being frozen it gives a lot more options for photos locations because you can get out on the ice and take advantage of the views from all directions. There is a ton of snow in Emerald Lake… it just dumps and dumps snow all winter so we were in snow pretty deep wandering along to the photo locations. These two were super sweet together and handled the cold very well! The tricky part about winter weddings is that it is cold… so cold. It was around -17 for their wedding day and it’s hard to stay out in that for hours so we broke up the time with travelling out into Field because everything was covered in hoarfrost and looked magical (plus a car ride with heated seats helps a lot to warm up!). We then went back toward Emerald Lake Lodge with a short stop at the natural bridge (my favourite location!) for a few cozy blanket photos before going to have hot chocolate in Emerald Lake Lodge. Being by the fire with warm drinks was the perfect way to end Garth & Vanessa’s Emerald Lake Lodge winter elopement. Here’s some of my favourite photos from the day!
