Emerald Lake Lodge is easily one of my favourite venues for intimate weddings and elopements in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Shantel & Charlie’s intimate July wedding was just a delight to photograph. With a ceremony at the Viewpoint with just close family watching, Shantel & Charlie were married in a beautiful ceremony overlooking the lake. I just loved Shantel’s lace dress and it worked so well with her baby’s breath bouquet, perfect for a summer wedding. Following the ceremony, we did photos with their kids (who are so darn cute! just look at them!) and then wandered the grounds with their wedding party for photos. I’m so very happy that they decided to do canoe photos on the lake. Emerald Lake is one of the only places where you don’t have to wear life jackets (the life jackets are in the canoe if needed, safety is important, but life jackets just don’t look good in photos!). After a quick paddle around the lake, we hopped in the car and headed out to the Natural Bridge – this spot is a must for photos if you are in the Emerald Lake area – to finish up photos with the newlyweds. Between Emerald Lake and the Natural Bridge, it covers all of my favourite things about mountain weddings – gorgeous water, rocks and beautiful wooded areas!
