REAL WEDDING: Calgary Intimate wedding at Rouge Restaurant
The Couple: Lisa & Patrick
The Season: Spring turning to Summer, mid-June
The Location: Calgary – Rundle Ruins, the Bow River valley & Rouge Restaurant
A Snippet About the Day: It’s been a few years since I’d photographed anything in Calgary, so I was super excited for Lisa & Patrick’s Calgary Intimate wedding at Rouge Restaurant to have a change from the mountains (don’t get me wrong, I love working in the mountains but it’s nice to go somewhere different that you don’t know inside out & backwards, you know?). I met up with Patrick & his boys at the Rundle Ruins, that’s where Lisa & Patrick wanted to do their first look. I tend to always be early so I did some group photos with Patrick & his groomsmen while we waited for Lisa & the girls to arrive. Once we caught sight of the ladies, I got Patrick set up & his reaction to first seeing Lisa was so sweet! It’s nice to see that raw emotion when they first see each other. After the first look we stayed in the area for wedding party photos & more of Lisa & Patrick before making a stop by the river. We then headed to Rouge Restaurant for their Calgary intimate wedding with a ceremony outside on the lawn. It was my first time shooting at Rouge, it’s a great space! They had a sweet ceremony that we followed with family photos & a few more portraits before we parted ways for the night (I actually headed off to Banff to shoot an engagement session that night, stay tuned for it!). I don’t tend to shoot a lot of receptions anymore. I’m not opposed to to them but I also don’t force people to have full day coverage from getting ready to the end of the reception if they don’t want it.
