REAL ENGAGEMENT | Calgary Engagement Session in the City
The Couple: Kara & Matt
The Season: November, a warmer early winter day
The Location: Calgary, AB
A Snippet About the Day: Kara & Matt live in Calgary & got married in the mountains at the Fairmont Banff Springs so they opted for a Calgary engagement session close to home. So there was some variety in locations between their engagement & wedding photos, we worked around the city mixing urban elements with nature. Getting the city skyline while still in a park-like setting worked well for me (I’m pretty much obsessed with shooting in nature & I really struggle in pure urban settings without any natural elements) so we started the day on a residential road that had a great view of downtown for their Calgary engagement session. I also have a thing for bridges so we did a few while crossing over into Prince’s Island Park. Calgary is a pretty city that has lots of greenspace & having the river run through the city really helps bring nature in. Prince’s Island Park is a great spot that mixes city & nature well, making it easy to just shoot nature or being able to easily add the city into the overall vibe depending on the angles that you use. As the sun dropped away behind the buildings, the cold moved in quickly much like it does in the mountains so we ended their Calgary engagement session strolling on the way back out of the park.
