Kayla & Brady planned an Abraham Lake wedding with an outdoor wedding ceremony and indoor reception at the Goldeye Centre near Nordegg. It’s been a few years since I’ve been to the Goldeye Centre and I really enjoy it as a wedding venue. The Abraham Lake area has amazing mountain views but is super quiet compared to Banff, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake & Emerald Lake. I definitely want to shoot more weddings in this area! I met up with Kayla for getting ready at one of the cabins at The Goldeye Centre. With most lodge locations, I try to do getting ready photos outside because the colour cast of the dark wood makes everything look so red and most of these cabins are super dark inside. I’m happy Kayla was ok with getting ready outside! We were right beside the ceremony location and I really like this new option for outdoor ceremonies. It’s wide open and flat, so much easier to get around than the amphitheater. The best part of their ceremony was the recessional… there were dried flower for the guests to toss at the couple as they made their way down the aisle…. instead they were pelted with the flowers… it was funny to watch! After the ceremony we did family photos and hopped in the car to head out to do Abraham Lake wedding photos… except the skies opened up and it just poured for an hour. We hung out in the car waiting for the worst of the rain to go away (which also helped to clear the forest fire smoke out of the air). We shot fast to make the most of the rain break. Abraham Lake is just a stunning post for wedding photos. Once we were finished we headed back toward Nordegg & the Goldeye Centre for the wedding reception.
