REAL ELOPEMENT: Snowy Winter Elopement at Emerald Lake Lodge
The Couple: Shantel & Kevin
The Season: Up-to-your-ears-in-snow winter. Early January 2020
The Location: Emerald Lake Lodge & the Natural Bridge in Yoho National Park
A Snippet About the Day: Just a week after Becca & Corey’s wedding at Emerald Lake Lodge, I was back for Shantel & Kevin’s snowy winter elopement! In just a short week more snow had fallen & the area around the Lodge was looking more like a winter wonderland than ever. Shantel & Kevin had gotten ready together in one of the cabins at Emerald Lake. I popped in to meet them before the ceremony & made sure they prepped to handle the cold. I handed over a few spare hand warmers & headed to the viewpoint to get ready for their snowy winter elopement ceremony. It’s great when couples get ready together & I just love it when they do the the processional for their wedding ceremony together! They walked down the steps stealing glimpses at each other & said their vows surrounded by snowy mountains. Part way through their ceremony it started to sprinkle snow so truly was a snowy winter elopement! Fresh snow on your wedding day is like a special blessing… just like rain is good luck, I think snow is good luck too! After they emphatically proclaimed “I Do!”, we wandered off around the grounds at Emerald Lake for their portraits. We made a few stops with a chance to warm up & we hopped in the car & headed out towards Field because I really wanted to try to shoot with the blue ice I saw on the way in. Shantel & Kevin were super adventurous & when we went to the natural bridge, they were totally into scaling down the steep icy trail to walk on the frozen rover in the ice cave. Awesome! That was the best part of their snowy winter elopement (next to getting married, of course!) in the mountains!
Review from Shantel & Kevin: We can’t thank Beth enough for the beautiful photos of our wedding day!! We would recommend her for any wedding without hesitation. Thank you so much!
