Jessica & Garison’s Beveridge Landmark Events wedding was my first visiting Medicine Hat & it did not disappoint! From the little time I spent in the area, I really enjoyed the landscape along the river, so of course that’s where we went for portraits!
The day started with a glowing pink wedding ceremony at Beveridge Landmark Events, a beautifully renovated historic building in Downtown Medicine Hat. This space has lovely natural light mixed with some atmospheric uplighting. The ceremony had an elegant feel with gold chivari chairs (just love how a pretty chair completes a space!). The ceremony ended with Garison sweeping Jessica off her feet as the walked the aisle together as husband and wife. Their Beveridge Landmark Events wedding ceremony was just perfect!
I’d heard that Medicine Hat is sunny & the weather is warmer than Northern Alberta & the mountain climates that I’m used to. Although their wedding was nearing the end of December, there wasn’t a lot of snow & the temperatures were hovering around freezing. Since it was my first time in Medicine Hat, I did a lot of google maps research beforehand trying to find locations & asked the advice of a friend who used to live there for what area to go shoot. We didn’t have a ton of time between the ceremony & having to go back for their Beveridge Landmark Events wedding reception, so I opted to stay close & found a spot that had really striking views of the landscape. I gravitate toward trees, water & hills every chance I get! Jessica & Garison snuggled up close, partly for warmth, but mostly for cuteness! We shot until the sun dropped away & got my favourite cotton candy coloured skies!!
A quick drive took us back downtown for their Beveridge Landmark Events wedding reception, but first we did a few indoor portraits in the building before heading off to the reception. The food was amazing, the speeches were funny & they had a fabulous first dance to kick off the evening of fun!
Are you planning a Beveridge ballroom wedding? I’d love to make the trip back down south! In the meantime, check out a couple more winter weddings with a similar vibe for inspiration! Like this Art Gallery of Alberta wedding! Or this boho Mt Norquay wedding!
