In the almost 11 years that I have been photographing weddings I have never worked on New Year’s Eve for a wedding so I was excited for Jen & Jeremy’s intimated winter wedding in Canmore at Creekside Villa on Dec 31 this past year. Well, we spent the day together and I actually spent the night out with my husband, but still, it was a New Year’s Eve wedding. And it was a cold, cold day in Canmore. I remember waking up and seeing -37 degrees and was a little worried for how the day would go. Jen & Jeremy had a small ceremony at the Creekside Villa and it was my first time working there and I quite enjoyed it! There ceremony and reception space is cozy and quaint! Following the ceremony we ventured out into the cold and stayed close to Creekside Villa for their photos… there’s great views to be had on the Sunny side of Canmore! One of my favourite spots was just in the backyard of Creekside Villa in an unassuming spot up on the bank…. a short scramble up got great views and I was able to hide that we were in a residential area with houses all around! The power of good angles! We headed down the road a little to take in more mountain views and Jen bravely shed her wrap to show off her dress in those crazy cold temperatures! These guys were troopers! I don’t think people truly understand what it’s like to be out in that kind of cold in formal wear and still look happy about it! We wrapped up their photos with a beverage at the Iron Goat Pub before parting ways for the day. Here’s some of my favourite photos from Jen & Jeremy’s Creekside Villa wedding in Canmore!
