REAL ELOPEMENT: Elizabeth & Aaron elope in Lake Louise with tons of snow!

The Location: Lake Louise at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise & near Post Hotel

A Snippet About the Day: If you’re looking for locations for the best winter wedding, elope in Lake Louise (or Emerald Lake… I feel these two spots are tied for consistently amazing winter wedding landscapes). Lake Louise starts to have snow that sticks in October (mid-late October is one of my absolute favourites times to be there!) & is snowy until May, when the Lake slowly starts to thaw. There’s a huge window of time for a winter wedding. On this particular day when Elizabeth & Aaron eloped in Lake Louise it was in the middle of a crazy snow storm. The snow was just dumping down for days. The mountains had disappeared but it was a magical winter wonderland of snow. Our plan had been to find a spot with mountain views but since it was essentially a white out, I found a great spot in the trees that had a natural arch where the snow had weighed down a tree… perfect! When it’s really snowy, you need a dark background to provide some contrast against the snow otherwise it just looks like you are in a white backdrop… no one wants that! But this spot in the trees was just beautiful & it’s something you can expect when you elope in Lake Louise during the winter. This area is more than just mountains!

The snow kept coming down & at one point during the ceremony Ashley (the wedding planner) had to run over to knock off all the snow that was burying Elizabeth’s dress! This was a wedding ceremony full of personal vows, tears & awesome laughter, the best kind! After the ceremony we went to Post Hotel to get a change of scenery & to let Elizabeth & Aaron warm up a bit. This spot is so pretty with the bridges! Then we went back to Lake Louise & managed to nab photos with the newly constructed ice castle! Pretty much a perfect day to elope in Lake Louise for a winter wedding!
